One Day At the Kite House Costa Rica Wake up to the sound of palm trees rustling from 25knot winds. Make breakfast and eat on the terrace over- looking the windy bay next to the pool. Hang out with the KH crew talk about the tricks or lessons you will take today. Open up the crazy cow painted storage trailer for your gear and walk down to the kite beach Playa Copal. For those heading to the island jump in the boat and go. Others kite the morning session on the kite beach. Around lunch time head back to the KH and jump in the pool for a swim. Then eat lunch and take nap, read, or use the WiFi internet in one of the hammocks on the terrace. Put on more sunblock and head back down for the afternoon or evening session. Hang and talk with kiters in-between sessions under the shade trees. Talk and demo top of line new KH equipment and gear talk with Kent or listen to his wild stories. Head up at dusk with your equipment for some pool volleyball . Some drinks, some stories, bit of dinner and you will be thinking time for bed or on nights we have KH BBQ’s stay up late and hang. Several times week KH customers or the crew put on BBQs or bon fires on the beach. Hang with kiters from all over the world. End the day tired from kiting with 24/7 wind you can kite all you can take. Rest up for the next day of kiting. Location Located in the NW corner of Costa Rica is a bay called Bahia Salinas, known to be the 8th windiest place in the world. Our season starts Nov runs to April. We have 25mph+ wind everyday all day long. Our most common kite size used is 8m. Our bay offers two flat water riding spots one being an island with beautiful water and white sand beach. This is where we perform our kiteboarding lessons on this private island named Bolanos Island with a 16' zodiac. The main kite beach is side shore and long. Never too crowded. The two international airports in Costa Rica are (SJO) San Jose and (LIR) Liberia. Liberia is much closer and easier airport. Just 1.5hr drive north there are buses $5 taxi $70 or our shuttle $80. Can off course rent a car as $50 to $65 per day. Kite Lesson Our lessons are given from private island in the middle of the bay, better wind, crystal clear flat water, white sand beach without any dangerous obstacles. We provide boat support with driver and private instructor; this provides twice the learning in the same time. Much more time on the water, instructor with you at all times, better lesson. We create kiteboarders. Many other schools just want to teach you kite playing and take your money. Be aware we are serious kiteboarders and give intense lessons. We do offer lessons from the kite beach with radio helmets $40/h group rate $30/hr Lodging The KiteHouse shared house Large living / kitchen area Private bedroom with double bed and bathroom on the first floor Upstairs has another private bedroom with double bed and a balcony living area with 2ea single beds and option of 2ea more singles or can be pushed together for another double bed. Private dbroom on 1rst floor $30, private bedroom 2nd floor $25, single bed in dorm on 2nd floor balcony $15. The Kitehouse Villas Villa A & B are two private villas / small homes. They are both around same size and share pool and private parking area. Fully furnished kitchens. All utilities and cleaning included. Villa A has large living/kitchen area with single sleep on bed/couch downstairs. A double bed and single bed upstairs. Sleeps up to 4 people Is $56/night $45 over week Villa B has the same layout at Villa A. Just bit larger living/kitchen area. Sleeps up to 4 people Is $68/night $55 over week TheKiteHouse Costa Rica is the only kite operation located at the kite beach!!! Meaning we are there 24/7 living on-site to give support in any way 24/7. The above beach villa rentals are all right next to the main KiteHouse shared house and all are very short walk onto the kitebeach.
