We are often times asked, "Is kiteboarding easy to learn?"
The answer is: Yes....With the right instruction.
Anybody can figure out how to fly a kite, then have it pull them across
the water on a board. But without the basic theory and supervised practice,
learning to kiteboard by yourself can be long, frustrating, costly and
a dangerous process. With lessons you can learn all the skills that
you need to have to be an independent rider, in a fraction of the time.
Not to mention reducing the risk of injury to yourself and your gear.
The next question usually is "Is kiteboarding dangerous?"
Again the answer is: Yes....It can be, but doesn't have to be.
This is where the "right" instruction makes a difference.
With so many people focused on the goal of riding the board, often times
the most important aspects of learning to kiteboard are forgotten, including
how to ride safely and being aware of your situation. Being on the board
in great, but what happens if you get separated from your board? Can
you retrieve your board? Or what if another part of your gear breaks?
Can you get back to the beach? These are the skills in kiteboarding
that every rider must learn BEFORE they can ride the board.
Knowing what needs to be taught and knowing how to teach these skills
is what distinguishes the KITEHOUSE from the other schools out there.
We take the time to make each student a safe and independent kiteboarder,
we don't just take their time and money. We pride ourselves on giving
high quality individual lessons to all levels of kiters.
How do we do this?
By providing experienced instructors with a proven safe and progressive
teaching method. With the best gear available in the best learning location
possible. All of our classes are private 1-on-1 lessons on a shallow
sandbar clear of obstacles, with full time boat support. So you can
learn in confidence, security and free of distractions.

Bring a friend to share a lesson with you.

Includes 3 hours of instruction per day, use of all equipment, boat
support, drink and snack, plus the KiteHouse goodie bag OR a 5-day course:

Beginners,
Miami is a great place to come and learn or ride. Most people will tell
you that you need lessons by the hour or couple of hours. We have been
teaching since 1999, thousands of students. You will need 8-9 hours
to be up and going one direction and the other direction SAFE.
The word safe is the key word here. You need to build a confidence
in kite flying skills as well, you need to develop muscle memory. That
way you will react without as much thinking, and your skills will become
subconscious. We teach in a friendly safe environment. What direction
is the wind blowing in Miami? WHO CARES! Its an island we can go to
any side and get the wind. We also train instructors for PASA so you
know you are getting experience, plus we like to do things at night
too. So if you want to use the latest gear, use a boat to get around,
have fun and enjoy your vacation you can take our 2-day course or make
it the whole week.
REMEMBER - never buy gear until after you have had a lesson, you will
be wasting your money!

THIS IS OUR INTERMIDIATE COURSE*
- You have the choice of 2-day OR 5-day course. Both include assisted
riding and instruction, use of equipment, specific training for getting
on the board, upwind drills, turning, independent kiting, boat support,
drink & snack.

THIS IS OUR ADVANCED COURSE** - This
classed is geared after Paul Menta the founder of The Kitehouse. Riders
learn to jump, do flips, transitions, kiteloops, and any trick they
would like to do. We set goals and progress you as you ride for the
day.
RIDERS – We also invite any
Riders to come out and ride using our equipment. This inlcudes drink
& snack, but no instruction.
*Intermediate riders must know self rescue,
upwind body drag and be able to ride in both directions.
**Advanced riders must be able to stay upwind in both directions.
After
learning the basic, the kiteboarding world opens to new riders. There
are jumps, transitions, tricks, waves and so many other things to keep
kiteboarding exciting. Every day becomes more fun. This is why we continue
to kiteboard as much as we can.
And we can help you along your kiting progression. After completing
a beginner course, we offer intermediate and advanced lessons to kiteboarders
of all levels. From staying upwind to back rolls and kite loops, we
offer tips that come from experience in teaching. Then we take trips
to new locations, load the boat and look for some of the best kiting
that the south Florida has. Make friends, live the lifestyle, become
part of the tribe.
Beyond the glitz, glitter and hype of Miami there is a quieter but
more exciting life. Just a few miles out from downtown Miami and South
Beach lies one of the best kiteboarding spots in the world. Huge square
miles of sand and grassy shallows blessed with wind from all directions
gives a flat water kiting paradise. Dotted with small islands, lighthouses,
dolphins, rays and even houses built on stilts.
This is as cool as it gets, only thing is, you need a boat to get there.
That is where we come in. We have the kiteboarding boat, designed for
this kind of kiteboarding. Take a ride on our new 22-foot Andros
panga style boat. We now get you to the best riding spots faster
and in more style. Comfortable seats, lots of room and a built in air
compressor makes this the ultimate kiteboarding boat. Kite in luxury,
don't even think about pumping a kite.

80's in the summer and high 60's in winter, it is one of the best spots
to take a kiteboarding vacation. And if you get tired of kiteboarding

Mike
Minichiello started kiteboarding in 2001, on Maui, Hawaii.
With his experience in skydiving and surfing he realized that kiting
is a perfect combination of the two sports. After seeing the potential
that kiting has to offer, he has been stuck to the scene, either riding,
teaching or photographing as much and in as many different spots as
he can. Now after riding in Hawaii, Brazil, Mexico, Tonga and Fiji for
the last 4 years, he now calls south Florida home.
Since starting to instruct in 2002 Mike tries to promote the sport with
a progressive and safety orientated teaching style, encouraging newcomers
to have as much fun learning as he has teaching. From first timers to
intermediate or advance students Mike can provide a relaxed and informative
lesson.
Brenden Conway
Beginning his windsurfing career at the age of 14, Brenden became a
focused and driven surfer, as much time as the warmer months of Lake
Erie would allow him. Brenden’s windsurfing quickly progressed
to the expert level, and Windsurfing became a passion. On epic days,
Brenden could be found windsurfing the shores of Lake Erie as opposed
to being stuck in the classroom. In 2003 after buying his first trainer
kite as well as having a background in stunt kite aeronautics, Brenden
applied his windsurfing knowledge to the sport of kiteboarding and has
never looked back. This level of self motivation is Brenden’s
driving behind his teaching style and philosophies of life, and enjoys
inspiring riders from beginner to advanced.
Brenden currently holds a degree in eco-tourism and adventure travel,
a secondary degree in Natural Resource Management, a Yachtmaster Offshore
License, as well as a USCG 100 ton Captains License.
When not kiteboarding, Brenden can be found racing sailboats, making
music, and/or cooking.
